NEW RELEASE
According to People Familiar with the Matter
In 1996, I played in clubs around Southern California with my band – Tim Gales & the Stand. I had a great time. – especially playing the famous Troubadour – twice! The decade was very prolific for my writing and recording. This project is a rescue effort. Most song tracks were recorded in the mid-90s. The plan was for my next album project to be a double CD of covers and originals. However, life took me in a different direction. I began working for Disney Feature Animation as a compositor. My time at Disney was rewarding working on animated movies from 1995-2003 before the studio closed. But the experience halted my album project. After 28 years, I’m rescuing these songs from hidden drives and giving them life. The project is filled with songs about my personal journey through the years. From the soul finding cover of “First Cut Is The Deepest” to the painful original, “Not Good Enough,” I send them out to the world. Whether you’re someone new or you’re somehow connected to these songs – you know who you are – you might be familiar with the matter. Thanks for supporting my music. I hope you enjoy this new project.
REVERIE EP (REMASTERED) 2023
As part of my focus to clean up the past, I have re-released my 1996 release “Reverie – EP remastered ” It has an additional rehearsal song “All Shook Up” which was only included on the cassette back then. You might notice the original version of “I Don’t Want to Know the Truth” is also included on Reverie. It is now available on your favorite streaming service.
“A musician must make music…if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself.” – Maslow
Tim Gales writes simple songs about complex things: love, family, home, dysfunction, and loss. Phrases turn, emotions connect, melodies soar. You sing along even though you’ve never heard the tune before. Tim writes from a perspective of distances, interludes between lovers, lives and the roads that lead from small towns to big cities.
